    What's the difference between Kel-Tec SU-16CA and SU-16B?

Turners is selling the SU-16CA for $539 and the SU-16B for $479. I was wondering what the difference is.

    SU-16CA

    SU-16B

The product description doesn't help, they're exactly the same.

Did you look at the manufacturer's website? The difference is clearly stated.

KelTec's SU16 rifle series is the perfect everyday sport utility rifle. SU16s are highly configurable and reliable with many models available.

The CA has a threaded barrel and different sights.

      Cool, thanks!

I think I'll just get the cheaper B model, i don't see why I would need a threaded barrel.

It also says the B version is smaller, lighter, and has a shorter barrel. Also more expensive than the A version.

Edit: I have no idea what the CA version is, doesn't look like that is explained on the website.

Go with either or buy both! Great featureless carbine that will let you run your Benitez mags.

I believe the CA version also has a slightly heavier barrel.

Barrel contour, sight arrangement, barrel threading.

Save your money and don't buy that cheaply made rifle. It will break where the receiver meets the bolt. If you research you will find this is an issue that comes up often.

Save a little more and buy something well made with stronger materials.

If you decide to purchase anyways, don't depend your life on it.

                  Good luck.

I just bought the Ca model. I added a vg6 to the threaded barrel. Still featureless.

There has been issues exactly like the other poster stated but I believe that keltec has addressed those problems with newer models.

I really like mine and I also got it at turners. But it was on sale for 399.

I waited about 7 months for a deal to come up and it finally did. If you're patient that deal will pop up again

Quick run down on the Kel-Tec SU-16 series...

SU-16A = 18.5" lightweight barrel. Front sight at end of barrel.
SU-16B = 16" lightweight barrel. Front sight at end of barrel.
SU-16C = 16" threaded heavy barrel. Front sight on gasblock. Extended charging handle. Underfolding stock.
SU-16CA = 16" threaded heavy barrel. Front sight on gasblock. Extended charging handle.
SU-16D = 9" threaded heavy barrel. Front sight on gasblock. Extended charging handle. Underfolding stock.
SU-16E = 16" threaded heavy barrel. Front sight on gasblock. Extended charging handle. M4 style collapsible stock using a commerical AR buffer tube.

The A, B, and CA models are CA legal from the factory.
The C, D, and E models are CA illegal from the factory due to being considered prohibited weapons (assault weapons/SBR).

Current production on all models should have the upgraded bolt & extractors that were first introduced with the C and CA models.

I've had both and still have a CA. The B front sight is junk. Buy the CA.

I came here to say this. The front sight on the 16B is crap. My rifle even arrived with a screwed up front sight that wouldn't adjust and had to be replaced.

Learned a lot about guns with that rifle. Did modifications to just about everything, bolt handle, stock pinning, handguards, rails, sights... In the end I decided that an AR (which dropped in price like a rock) was the gun for me. It was a super light rifle that could be folded in half and easily transported. It's only one of 2 guns I've ever sold, the other is the xd40 tactical.
