Bear in mind that in CA, you're likely to get depressed seeing how much cheaper it is out there.

But, if you're just looking for pricing, I would advise looking around Gunbroker. That's how I tend to appraise guns (not that I've done so professionally).

BTW, It's legal to give money for handguns online, but if they're an assault pistol or not on the CA approved list, you're never going to be able to actually take possession of it.

There are no exceptions for AW pistols, but if the pistol isn't on the approved list but is offered for sale by someone else in CA, you can perhaps do a private party transfer...

I buy almost all of my firearms from Buds. Some of the best prices around, cheap shipping, and they're also about 10 miles from my Dad's place in central Kentucky. They have lots of CA ffl's on file and ship quickly. I have four long guns making their way across the midwest as I'm writing this...

And some FFL's will do it for 50-60 bucks total. My four long guns are going to cost a total of 80 to transfer. Shop around.

If you're in So Cal near Riverside, BSP will transfer it for you for $50 total. That INCLUDES the DROS.

Regular DROS is 25, not 35 ... PPTs are 35 (25 DROS and 10 to the dealer).

Many dealers (including us) charge a $10 fee for new guns as well.......for storage or capital recovery on the costs for the computer and the official DOJ card reader. $25 to the state, $10 to the cash register. There is no limit on what a dealer can charge for doing a DROS on a dealer sale.

From Dealer FAQ on DOJ website:

What fees can I charge in addition to the DROS?
In addition to the State's $19.00 DROS fee, you must also charge a $1.00 Firearms Safety Testing fee and a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement fee. If the transaction being processed is a dealer sale, consignment return, or return from pawn, you may impose other charges as long as this amount is clearly shown as a "dealer fee" and not misrepresented as a State fee.

Bud's Gun Shop has been around a long time... sometimes they have GREAT prices... but I'd say 90% of their inventory is priced standard. You gotta add on $40-$60 for dros fee then $20-$40 for shipping.

I always wait for an instate til I find an item on shelf and its a bargain.

That way I never get the dreaded ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS WHERES MY GUN! Issue that is common with dealers in the industry..

I use Discount Gun Sales. I've done two orders with them and they're always next day.
