Tinnitus from one drill? Kinda fragile ears one might have.

If you like lip reading, sure, ignore common sense and go without..

Otherwise, have the eyes and ears on BEFORE you even step foot inside/outside on the range.

We only used earplugs in the Marines when qualifying, the rest of the live fire ranges/combat zone was no earpro, no wonder my wife yells at me that I don’t listen. But the VA said my hearing is bad but not bad enough, I did get a rating for tinnitus at least. Have to sleep with noise machine or the ringing drives me nuts.

Dang... I am glad the ringing stopped. I definitely don't want to lose my sense of hearing or sight so I am pretty careful these days. I don't even go to indoor ranges.

I have heard people refer to tinnitus as "the sound of silence" which I thought was clever and funny, but also a little depressing. I think I've tuned out the ringing, I only hear it if I think about it. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I just ignore it, although it's very noticeable when the background noise is low.

I did that before, the ringing went away after about two weeks.

both my ears are ringing loud due to exposure to loud machineries, drums and loud music in my tender age of 20 all the way to 30's. lost my high range on the left ear but right ear is amazingly healthy.

somedays, the ringing bothers me for a short while. but most of the time i'm used to it.

I tried to figure out the frequency of the “Eeeee”, but it seems to be multiple freqs. Can’t figure out what chord it is. Lol!

My tinnitus is the exact same frequency as my RCBS sonic cleaner.

I have had tinnitus for about five years. Started with a loud squealing noise at work. I got blasted again last year and the ringing got worse.

I just got my hearing aides yesterday and they have a tinnitus reducer in them where they will play a sound to cancel it out. My doctor cannot turn on that feature just yet as I have a month or so needed to get used to the new hearing before he can add features.

Wear your hearing pro! ...or else you will be like me with two hearing aides at 54 years old.

                              Don't suffer noticeable hearing loss.

Back in the day, braked or ported barrels were not as common as they are today. Shooting a braked AR pistol without ear protection will definitely ruin one's hearing.

                              On a lighter note:

I once introduced two of my friends to each other, but before I did, I told each friend that the other was slightly deaf.

They yelled at each other for almost a minute before realizing I had set them up.

The problem with tinnitus is that it's cumulative. Not necessarily any one thing that does it completely, but it creeps up on you and the gradually increasing hearing loss will be irreversible. May ruin or lessen your quality of life so, take precautions.

Unless you don't care and like the look of hearing aids...
