    PVS-14 Storage Can Adhesive?

Anyone have these? I was given these years ago from a buddy and I used them to store tools and other sensitive items when I went out to do automotive sidework. Very sturdy cases.

Well fast forward to now and I use them to store my old brass and ammo. The foam is pretty beat from all the sharp or blunt objects I've stored in them. I removed them but good lord the adhesive that is used to hold the foam is STICKY! I want to use the cans to store ammo, but the foam kinda limits how much I can hold in them. With foam, the can holds 2000rds of 9mm, without it, they have the ability to hold another 1000rds. The adhesive from the foam makes my ammo sticky and nasty to load.

Anyone have experience with these things and any clue how to remove the residue inside the can? I was planning on using Jasco Paint Stripper as a last resort, but if anyone could chime in on their experiences that would be awesome.

Pull the foam. Leave the adhesive and completely line the can with cardboard. Done.

The cans are also less noisy that way too.
    Poke'm with a stick!

acetone will take off most everything, including paint. Maybe something a little milder like paint thinner, mineral spirits, alcohol, oven cleaner, etc. What do you have on hand?

I’ve tried acetone, paint thinner, carb cleaner, even MEK. Just made the stuff tackier. I even threw heat at it without much success. Really resilient stuff.

I thought about using paint stripper, just would go to the store and buy green paint.

The cardboard idea isn’t actually a bad idea though.

[QUOTE=SVT-40;23850845]Pull the foam. Leave the adhesive and completely line the can with cardboard. Done.

I tried everything, so I ended lining the entire can with 6 mil heavy plastic sheeting then added poster board to protect the sheeting.

Warning...if you load the can with ammo...it can get get real heavy fast!

Lacquer thinner is next on the list.
If it's making it sticky, it's breaking it down.
              Keep rubbing on it.
