Few observations I took while in AZ this weekend...

Mom has a house about 3/4 mile from the River in Bullhead City, and me and gf went out this weekend. the land in between house and river is BLM.

We mainly went to get the boat out on the water and fine tune before summer season, but I took the rifle out anyways, with about 20 rounds. (not much, but just incase i had time to shoot)

We decided we wanted to shoot, and my mom wanted to fire the AR. went to Walmart, no ammo. went to Big-5, no ammo. Went to some gunshop and they only had wolf and some other brand (that was brass) and for both kinds they wanted 21.95 for a box of 20!! I wanted to drop dead.

The guy tried to sell me a "battle pack" of 200 rounds for $299.99. I laughed and walked out the door.

The good part i guess was gas was only $1.85 a gallon. Thats all.

that's nothing, you should have seen the prices of ammo at the Cow Palace show today... approaching astronomical...

As another gentleman said while wating in line with me at the show this weekend, "I'm in the wrong business!"

No kidding. It's been a few months since the new President was sworn in, I would've thought things would start to cool down by now. But the Cow Palace on Saturday seemed busier than I can remember.

One of the vendors related how difficult it is to get ahold of lower parts kits for ARs, and pointed out how a neighboring dealer was charging $150 per kit!

That's why I sold my AR.. Just can't afford to shoot it, and didn't really like just looking at it sitting in the closet.. When, or IF this crap ever cools down, I'll buy another. If not, then I guess not Unless I win the lotto!

And i realize you can still get 223 online somewhat cheap, but it's still a little steep for me.

I was in Phoenix a couple weeks ago for the Nascar race. We went to 4-5 Walmarts, finally found one that had a small supply left. I bought what they had. Also went to Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, and Sportsmens Wharehouse in Phoenix area and they were COMPLETELY OUT of all pistol ammo, and .223.

I was expecting my rental car to be sagging on the way home with all the ammo I was going to buy and I ended up with only about 10 boxes of pistol and 20 boxes of slugs. We wasted a whole day of our trip to find that crap.

I just got back from a week in AZ and NM and I stopped at just about every gun store and Walmart I saw and they were ALL out of ammo. I finally found 2 boxes of .45 ACP for $25 a box. And that was the cheap stuff. I could not believe at how there was no ammo in the stores.

I still had a fun trip. I brought plenty of ammo with me and I did a lot of shootin. :-)
