It was very nice the neighbor called you and not the sheriff. Here's an article about a couple of guys shooting in Attascadero, both were arrested: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.san...e39499299.html

"Two people were arrested early Thursday morning after police say they were target practicing with a high-powered rifle in a residential area at nearly 3:30 a.m."

      Smart move, very smart.

Try to work out a friendly agreement where you will let them know when you are going to shoot so that they can bring their dog inside ahead of time.

If the neighbor had a pitbull, I'd shoot 357 mags day and night.
For a lab, that was a nice thing to do.

now see... even dogs sleep during those hours but would give them benefit of the doubt. maybe their clock was set to 3:30pm.

Watch out if he and his wife are Millennial's, you can't reason with those people.

The shooting tubes can be made with old carpet padding.

Some carpet shops throw away the new remnants
Most installers cut up the pad into strips and throw it away at the shop

3 layers of carpet pad and concrete wire mesh to hold it in place.

Lots of options to absorb sound.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
