LCpl Spencer was observed resting the butt of his rifle on his boot, with the suppressor, located at the end of the barrel, under his chin. The Inquiry concluded that as he bounced the rifle up and down the trigger snagged on a piece of equipment lying on the floor, resulting in the weapon functioning.

The report said that soldiers with a specialised role who had achieved a high level of training often felt they needed less supervision, a culture Air Marshal Garwood described as "big boys rules". Whilst such an attitude might be appropriate in "special [or] elite" units, he said allowing it to exist on the Sniper Operators' Course was "particularly inappropriate" and had resulted in "lower levels of supervision".

That is why the gun safety rules are LAWS, as in "gravity" type...

#1 always loaded, #2 don't muzzle anything you are not willing to destroy, #4 Sure of target and surroundings.

#3 Finger(s) [and kit] outside of trigger guard/off the trigger until mental decision to use lethal force.

A buddy once shared an interesting thing about firearms use/training etc. - the more you do it, the more prone to slipping up you can become if you forget these fundamental laws.

Since when does the Army have Lance Corporals? Isn't a Lance Corporal an enlisted rank only in the Marine Corps.?

Since when does the Army have Lance Corporals? Isn't a Lance Corporal an enlisted rank only in the Marine Corps.?

This incident was in Scotland, with British forces. This incident did not involve U.S. forces.

British online newspapers report a lot stuff about the US, I just assumed, and yes I know what 'assuming' does.
