    Recommendation for gun shop-Bay Area

"The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke speech of 23 April 1770, "Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents," delivered to the House of Commons.

The M1 Garand is probably just fine. I do have an M1A that I had a gunsmith, in the Fremont area, do a basic look over to check it out. That was several years ago and the shop has changed names since then. The same gunsmith still works there.
The LGS is now called Black Dog Armory on Grimmer, the gunsmith is Dan.

There's Miltech Arms in Cupertino that specializes in M1 garands.

I like Eddies shooting sports. But I’m kinda biased
Some say that he once mooned two prostitutes just for a round of drinks, but wasn't surprised by the reply......They call him, the Hutch
Some say that he rode a dirtbike 7k miles across the country and that he once applied Bengay to his own testicles for a mere $50............They call him, the Hutch -Top Gear

Yes- talk to them. They might not be gunsmiths but they sell a lot of used and collector firearms & probably know enough to at least look it over for you. Pretty good prices on ammo by the way.

make sure you use low pressure "garand ammo" only modern 30/06 will be to fast and suposidly can cause stuff to bend.

google garand ammo and find out more
