DOJ: Wrong Model? Intra-family Transfer Approved

I just got my DOJ approval letter, but there may be an issue.

I'd applied for a Mossberg 351KA, but on the approval letter they designated a 46B.

Typo or is that a more generic term they use?

    Presumably you filed an OPLAW?

That doc, or the equivalent through CFARS is a record of a transaction that has already occurred - the letter is an acknowledgement of payment and info into the database, not an 'approval'.

    Nice antique .22s.

Tough to typo "46B" for "351KA", don't you think? Seems more like a deliberate act; beyond that, hard to say why some clerk did that.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

It's a report of firearm ownership approval.

I'll have to call the 916 number on Monday and see what they say.

You are probably going to cause more problems than you want to deal with.

You did your part. Now it's on them.

Years ago I sold a Black Kawasaki motorcycle. The guy never registered it in his name. Then a year later I get a letter from the state of Louisiana saying they are going to auction it off (he never registered it).

The CA DMV set me a letter saying to the effect to acution, but described the motorcycle as a Yellow in color, the Make was Honda, and the model was Ducati.

          Yellow Honda Ducati.

          *****
Just keep in mind that's effectively who are are going to be dealing with when you call them to make the correction.

this is not an uncommon mistake on the part of DOJ. you are most likely talking about someone handling your records who could not tell the barrel from the stock on a rifle and considers a semi-automatic the same as a revolver. Most people in DOJ probably have never seen a gun outside of television so you may be confusing the issue even more. Like someone said you did your part and the party you talk to on the telephone will not be the one looking at any paperwork you resubmit trying to clear this up.
