Is Open Carry OK At Shooting Range?

An acquaintance who has a CCW was walking around today at the range open carrying a loaded pistol. I asked him if he could do that and he just nodded yeah.
    Can he do that?

It all depends on range policy.

      Depends on the range.

yeah depends on range. At On-Target if you take a class or pass some test or something they let you carry on property.

I wear a sidearm all the time at the range near me - Iron Sights. Even to the bathroom, in the lobby.

This is purely a private property issue. The range has the ability to restrict or allow open carry in the same way you could with visitors to your property.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat

It's polite to ask someone, and abide by their policies. I have not seen it really around the bay area unless you were in competition.
