Anyone who has handled an old Colt will be disappointed in a new one. The reason they quit building the Python is the skilled craftsmen that assembled and tuned it had all aged out and retired. Colt had entered the Trooper III phase by then as was using interchangeable parts and no hand fitting or high polish. If the new Python will be a hand fit hand polished twin of an early 1960s gun I'd be interested.

i was handling my new one earlier today and that's exactly how it felt - like a mini me Cobra - thinner, lighter, mim molded parts

maybe for someone who never had the real deal you'd never know a difference

im sure the Python will have mim molded parts too, that's just the way it's done now, less labor involved

Sure, if it's better quality that what S&W is cranking out. My most recent acquisition has mill marks that their QC thought passed inspection


Ruger finally released an eight shot revolver, but it's on the ridiculously heavy and unbalanced Redhawk frame. I hated my 44 Magnum Redhawk 4" and sold it to a friend.
