Lets hear it- Gun related close calls.

When I was younger, about 35 years ago, we would go target shooting at Texas Canyon not far from LA. Out with my sister and both our spouses. We each had 357 magnums and had shooting matches at everything out there. My brother in law was up at the shooting line and cocked the hammer back to shoot when a bee flew in his face. He freaked out and started spinning around trying to swat the bee with his gun hand to keep from being stung.
It was a sober moment as we started diving to not be shot on accident. Nothing like a cocked 357 Magnum with a hairpin trigger flying around in every direction.

I know it opens a can of whoop assk comments from others but we could all learn something from others mistakes. So if your brave enough to post it. I would love to hear it.

    Click bait.

My friend almost shot me with his .30-30 while we were deer hunting.

Cannot recall ever going hunting with that dipsh*t after that experience.

Watched a guy 3 lanes over shoot out the overhead light in his lane.

        Does that count?
        Sorry, not sorry.

I once went to the range and forgot magazines. Tragic day.

Two nearly identical guns in different calibers.

Snap caps were properly weighted but identical in appearance to normal rounds.

Slipped a mag of older hollow point 9s in the 40 gun, thinking they were snap caps.

Pulled the trigger in a safe direction

              Dented primer but no ignition.

              Changed underwear shortly after.

We were firing my HK Mark 23 at my friend's house - an hour north of Sacramento - on his hill - away from his house - at a tree stump section - the growth rings type of view of it. His house has a metal roof - we heard the round ricochet off the tree stump, go past our heads and bang/rattle off his metal roof.

Made us stop drinking and shooting - and just drink from that point.

                      Okay I'll play along...

When I was 12, an azzhole kid I knew down the street thought
it was cute to aim a bolt action rifle directly at me; point blank
range with a sh*t-eating grin on his face. His dad was in jail...

As fate would have it, he ended up a jailbird too.

We were all done with my first ever qual day at the range with a ton of ammo left over. We loaded 30 round mags and hit the line. Instructor told us we can flip the full auto switch. I let her rip and as the barrel went up I forced it down. I started to hit the ground 5 feet in front of me. I felt a sting in my stomach and it hurt. I thought I was hit with a bounce back. I stopped firing, reached my fingers inside my buttoned up shirt. I felt wetness and really thought oh s!@#. My fingers found a piece of hot brass. I thanked god and finished of the mag. We shot the rest of our ammo and no one ever said a word to me. Lesson learned that day...
