I contacted Insight Shooting Range to ask for a statement on why they would support this.



The Customer Support email replied to me, saying that he regrets the decision.



I asked him to jump in here and explain himself to Calguns...why a Range would do such a thing.



I would post the reply in full, but not sure if I could get sued for doing so. It is CA after all. Hoping he takes my advice and explains why a gun range would support such a thing.

What's done is done. Coming here to explain would just be excuses and false pretense.

It was really a bunch of BS in my opinion. Trying to keep up relations with the city...30 years in business...blah....blah....blah
If they don't chime in here as I requested, then that says a lot.

It won't hurt them at all. I will never go back even though I almost never shoot there but if Calgunners still make excuses for Oaktree and shoot there I'm sure they will still patronize Insights.

In the past hour, they have received two 1-Star reviews.

It's a CITY paying for the gift cards.
The sponsors typically provide the gift cards at a discount to the city.
So Stater Bros and Insight are selling the city gift carts at say 80% of face value to the CITY.
The "sponsorship" part is the discount that the city got buying a bulk quantity of gift cards all in one purchase.

The CITY wants to make sure that only RESIDENTS of the CITY are taking part in the event that the CITY is funding with tax dollars of the CITY residents.

The sponsors give the discount to the city to bring in more business from people that were not already using their establishments.

They only use ID for proof or residency no records are kept. At entry officer or volunteer asks for proof then waves you on to next checkpoint.
