    Ammo Brothers Cerritos -Never Again

I met a fellow Calgunner at Ammo Brothers in Cerritos this morning and, it was a total nightmare. Despite there being no more than 4 customers in the store, it took a good hour before they called our name.

The seller had a Federal Limits Apply license and they insisted that he needed to have a Passport or Birth Certificate in order to start the process. He drove home (about 45 minutes round trip) and picked up his birth certificate. Once he got back into the shop, we had to wait another hour for our name to be called (despite no names being in front of us).

The seller produced his drivers licence, the birth certificate as well as another document from the DMV explaining why the spelling of the first name was different. No dice! So, we wasted a total of 2.5 hours for no reason.

When I got home, I called my preferred FFL in Torrance and, they said the seller does not need a second form of ID...The Federal Limits Applies license was just fine.

Besides misinterpreting the law, Ammo Brothers has to be one of the most inefficient businesses I have ever seen. In the 2.5 hours that I was there, I do not think there were any successful transactions. Several employees were milling about but, it did not appear that they were actually doing anything.

Did I just catch them on a bad day or is this typical?

I have done plenty of ppt's at the Cerritos store. Never a problem. But I have proper I'd and so has the seller.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Waiting for yet another moronic "their house, their rules" post.

Odd. I sold a lower at Aces Pawn and only needed to show my ID. Buyer only showed ID and FSC. I try to stay away from gun shops for PPTs. They want you to buy their guns, not others

I don't prefer Ammo bros in Cerritos unless i absolutely have to. But unfortunately what you said about wait times is pretty consistent with my expericences as well.

Last time i was there was in Oct. to help my uncle do a PPT. Four people brehind the counter. With one customer being helped. We had our name on the clipboard but we still waited an hour to be helped for the PPT. If my uncle didn't live in the area and didn't mind traveling elsewhere i would have recommended to do the PPT elsewhere. We arrived at 11am for the PPT we didn't leave until 2 pm.

I have to admit i miss the old ammo bros when they were just selling ammo, but i understand with any business they needed to expand.

I'd rather go to Turners for a PPT. And that's saying something.

It is obvious that, with some notable exceptions, most LGS have no interest in PPT's and it shows.

I have had equally bad experiences at both Turners and Ammo Bros...

Wrote off AB for the same reasons as OP... oddly Turner's saved the day on the PPT that AB wouldn't handle.

Ammo Bros in Perris is also bad. 30 minutes to buy ammo. Never went back after that.

I bought from a seller there last month and they messed up twice on the same transaction:

                          1. Before the seller arrived, I asked the clerk to add a FN 5.7 from their inventory onto the DROS that was started for the PPT. He didn't and closed out the DROS. When I asked him why he didn't do what I asked him to, he said I didn't say anything about it while we were filling out the information. I decided not to pay another DROS fee.

                          2. When I picked up the PPT after the 10 days, a different clerk told me I'd have to re-DROS because the original clerk that screwed up above wrote down the seller's ID as a driver's license, but it was a California State ID card, not a DL. Listening to two clerks argue, I learned that it had happened a number of times before and one of them had been denying release and requiring an additional DROS. The senior clerk told him to release the item to me because it could be notated.

This was the second PPT I've done there, and I won't be going back for any future firearm purchases/transfers.

                            Ammo Brothers Cerritos -Never Again

Is what I said on Sept 1, 2015. After being a loyal patron for 10 yrs.

When I got home, I called my preferred FFL in Torrance and, they said the seller does not need a second form of ID...The Federal Limits Applies license was just fine.

Sadly, it is now typical for the ignorant counter monkeys at AMMO LIARS. To make up Ch!t, then espouse non-existent laws as justification for their own ignorance, and extra legal store policies.

Reasoning for my change of opinion regarding AMMO LIARS is included in the thread link supplied above by "eagle eye".
