    Seeing limits on PPT?

I live near San Francisco, the gun store desert of CA. We know that LGS don't make money on PPT even though it takes them away from actual sales.

The 2 closest LGS near me limit PPTs. One of them needs an appointment 2 weeks in advance and will only PPT 2 guns at a time in any direction and will not allow another PPT until the first PPT is out of their store. For example, I cannot trade 2 of my guns for 2 of someone else's. Those need to be 2 transactions at least 10 days apart.

Another has suspended PPT entirely for at least 2 weeks because their safe is full. My no-proof guess is that many PPT in CA are off-roster from LE, so there is no way that we could buy them from a dealer anyway.

Where is anyone else seeing PPTs being limited by LGS?

What FFL has said that?I live in SF also and I have PPT at City Arms in Pacifica and they have never mentioned anything about a limit. They have said they will sometimes only do handguns because of space. Peninsula Tactical has not told me anything when i have PPT with them. Must be something new the past couple of months?

I live in the bay area and never run into such nonsense. I would start using better dealers that support its customers and the 2nd.

When was the last time you PPTed there? They both stopped about six months ago. Imbert and Smithers still does it, so does UG imports, and so does 29outdoors in American canyon. Not sure who else. Is Rob blank still doing his thing?
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

I wasn't planning to name names, but yes, today I made an appointment with City Arms 2 weeks out, and they will only do 2 at a time.

So I also don’t leave an LGS after a PPT without giving them some business- ammo, accessories, range time, etc. The struggle is real.
You make a very good point and even though I will lose money, it makes sense for me to ensure they stay in business so next time I'll grab some ammo or something else from them.

I thought it was required that all FFL's have to do PPT..

It would make sense that a lot of people are dumping their collections prior to moving out of the state.. Since a lot of guns are worth much more here than they are out of state.

Drive to Triple As in Vallejo and you won’t have any problem.

Was going to PPT with another Calgunner on Tuesday and he called Peninsula Guns, they told him no PPT's. I recommended Coyote Point Armory, buyer rescheduled and ultimately backed out/ flaked. I was fully prepared to buy a new G29SF from Peninsula Guns same time as the PPT, but since they said no, I went and bought it at Coyote Point ( who said absolutely will PPT).
I think it's nonsense that shops say that they don't make money on PPT's. One of my first PPT's ever was about 10 years ago at Reed's in Santa Clara, I've been shooting there regularly since then, I've purchased multiple firearms and gear from them.
As others have said, when I do a PPT, I always purchase something from the shop.
Best shops on the Peninsula for PPT's:
                        Coyote Point Armory
                        Imbert Smithers

I live in the east bay and have done PPT transfers up ten minutes north of Sac and as far south as near Monterey Bay. I've even done one in Pacifica.

You have to go where the business is at if you want the sale.
Anyway...here's a dearth of reasoning to ponder: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Guns

City Arms about a month ago and I have not been to Peninsula Tactical in a while to be honest. City Arms Only asked me if it was a handgun and i said yes and they continued on. Well good to know for now on so i don't waste anyones times and prepare myself.
