    Budsgunshop

    Damn, I am frustrated!! Warning, this is going to be a rant/complaint post against a gun shop, so if you are tired of these threads and don't want to read, move on

    anyways, I ordered a GSG 5 rifle off there site last week. My first order was cancelled because they won't ship to CA, even though in the past they told me they would with a 10 round mag.. Whatever, I'm an AZ resident so I just orderd again and used a dealer in Yuma to transfer the gun. That second order never got processed for some reason.. hmm.. So I try one more time, and this time it goes through. I selected layaway because I didn't feel like throwing it on my CC and I had my downpayment mailed off the same day.

    Fast forward to today. I go to there website to check my order and it shows "cancelled".. Excellent! They have my work email so I figured I'd have to wait to get into work tonight to see what happened.. And here is what the email said:
    "Sir, We received your payment and we cannot ship this gun to Calif.

    It is not legal in Calif.

    Please contact us about your order.

    Thank you
    Budsgunshop.com

    Holy crap, now I'm furious. Now, here is exactly what my order status said on there site, just so there is no confusion:

    Delivery Address
    Yuma Coin & Gun
    905 Orange Ave.
    YUMA, Arizona 85364
    U
    Shipping Method
    Shipping to Arizona: 1 gun (Insured - (full refund/replace for items lost/damaged in shipping))
    Products
    1 x ATI GSG-5 .22LR Rifle $499.00

    It clearly shows delivery address of Yuma, AZ.. right? What do you guys think? Anyone else have problems with them? I sent them an email, I hope I get a call back to discuss this in person. If not, I will not do business with them anymore.

    Was there a CA address on the check you mailed out? Might be what happened. You should call them and fax a copy of your AZ DL/ID along with a copy of the CA law with the AW exemptions for rim fire firearms.

      Yes, my check had a CA address. I had already talked to them though in the first place when my inital order was cancelled, and told them I was going to order again and have it shipped to AZ, which they said was fine.

      Now the gun is showing out of stock, so I woulnd't be surprised if I'm SOL. I might go the cheaper route and get a 10/22 and get some "tactical" stuff for it.

        There's some on Gunbroker. Here's a few I found real quick.

          there=over there
          their=possessive

          Some times out of state sellers see the word California anywhere and freak out.

                  Yeah, but you'd have to pay DROS and xfer fees at the FFL anyway, at least $60 combined if you go through Gussler's and about $100 most other places. Royal Loan has GSGs and they will usually knock off a few bucks if you pay with ca$h.

                    I think bud's is just overly careful - because they ship a lot of other guns all around the country, including to California. I think they're just playing a game of CYA to make sure they don't potentially screw up their ability to ship to California. It stinks - but I can hardly blame the shop over that.

                      It was going to be 50 total at a gun shop in Yuma, AZ.

                      How are they CYA? They were shipping the gun to Yuma, AZ.. What could possibly go wrong? Are they liable if I buy a gun and something illegal with it?

                        It's CYA because you're a CA resident, and they don't even want to open themselves up to any possible exploitation of the law - that may or may not be legal. Again - it sucks, I agree with you 100% there - but I still can't fault Bud's for that. Not many dealers seem to want to ship to CA to begin with - and the ones that do seem to be very very careful about what they do and how they do it. I don't think we have to imagine there's a pretty good reason for that.

                            I see what you are saying. I talked to them a few months ago about getting one, and they said they would ship to CA with a 10 round mag.. So I believe they are familiar with the CA laws. oh welll.

                              Update! So this morning I check my bank account, and see the downpayment I sent Buds for my gun had been cashed! I'm thinking WTF! Why would they cash it since they already told me my order was cancelled. I was thinking maybe I talked some sense into them and they were going to sell me teh gun after all and ship it to Yuma.. I log on, or attempt, to log on to my buds account, and it said my account was disabled.. so now I'm really kinda pissed. I call them up, and holy crap, they answer the phone! First time they've answered and i've called a lot. He told me he blacklisted me because he didn't like the way I was talking to them.. that's a first, I've never been blocked or banned from anything. I asked why check was cashed and he just said they'd issue a refund next week. After we talked a while, I got him to take me off the ban, and he told me if I changed my mailing address to the address in AZ, that I could still buy the gun. Soo I guess it all worked out. Thanks buds!! Glad I'm not banned, I would like to do business with them again.
