Probably not enough business to support the business.
It also seems to be that Robar was just a disassembly/reassembly shop that was then forwarding on the stripped parts to the actual plater that does the process:

Robar NP is simply electroless nickel and TFE for lubricity. The process is simple v. bluing, parkerizing, and especially engineering hard chrome. Wright Armory / Robar is definitely not the only shop with the process.

Robar did create NP3 though.

They may have "created" the NP3 name, but I worked for a company in the mid-1980's that used the process under MIL-C-26704. That was around the time Robar began, but we used a local shop.

Np3 is definitely a trade name for a standard process just like how parkerizing is manganese phosphating or melonite is salt bath nitriding.
Trade names are used to advertise and profit on people that don’t know the regular process names.
