      This probably doesn't help. Sorry.

Yeah, I'm not too worried. It's not like I will go to a field in the middle of the city. All the places I see are like 20 miles from any man-made structure besides roads or power lines, and definitely BLM land, definitely not under fire restrictions.

I will admit, at risk of being scolded by you, that I have gone back to a spot in the desert after it had rained and found a few of my casings that I missed last time I was there. I picked up 1/4 of a home depot bucket full and thought I got them all, but I missed 5 or so .40 casings. But I picked them up next time I was there, so all is well. The disturbance in the force has been quelled.

I went out to the desert the other day. I shot a little and enjoyed the quiet solitude. I ended up picking up a bunch of trash left out there, some shooting related, some just dumped off trash. I may have lost a few shell casing in the sand, but I picked up way more trash. I figure that if you take out more than you left then it all balances out in the end.

PS: Tomorrow I plan to go recycle several shot up computers and blown up TVs. I'm sure I'll leave the recycling people talking.

I do the same and I'm glad to hear that others are helping as well.

OP, if you want to be part of the "good" local shooting community, contact Mike SN: sdfire with SDMust. He organizes clean ups with support of BLM Rangers and does raffles, shoots, BBQ's and you can learn a lot of info from the Rangers themselves that patrol the areas.

            Good luck and have fun

Thank you, I will do that. I also clean up extra if I see stuff around when I go shooting. I have not been out much, so I have not seen a lot of junk, but I always pick up everything I see and throw it into my bucket when I am cleaning up after myself.

That sounds awesome! I go to painted gorge, I usually don't see much trash except inside bonfire rings, but I've only been to three spots out there. Thanks for the info. Saturday is better than Sunday for me, but I will see if I can go as the date approaches.

Mike sets up different locations throughout the year. I've been to a couple events and it's always a great time meeting like minded people. (and working towards keeping the areas open for us to use) I won a case of ammo that was raffled off at one event, I sold it to a fellow CalGunner (who was at the event) and gave half the funds back to SDMust.

Always good times and very positive outcomes

You do know that I was joking about the flooding. Not getting the joke just messed it all up for you .

IMO, BLM will shut down target shooting in the next 5 years here in California, or try to.

I went out a few weeks ago to run some reloads of 7.62x39 through my SKS. I couldn't find 3-4 casings. I was so ticked because I had just bought those (Starline) it was bare ground and I couldn't see em.

We got to clean up as much as we can when we go out there. Just taking a small trash can if you have room. If you do get contacted by BLM, maybe they will be a little nicer if they see you/us making an effort....

I really hope they don't shut down blm shooting. That would be such a major bummer. It would majorly limit the shooting I do. I'd have to join an outdoor gun club, which would probably be impossible if blm shooting ended.

I used to pick up brass I found in the desert. Seems everyone is now doing that themselves as I don't see much anymore.

One time I was out there and saw two ladies and I guy scouring the ground and moving to different places the whole time I was there for like two hours. I assumed they were rock hounding but maybe they were picking up brass. Doesn't seem like a very profitable way to spend your time though... maybe they were looking for meteorites and geodes.
