Transfer a lever action to sister in Oregon?

I live in Calif & I want to transfer a lever action I have to my sister in Oregon. My understanding is I have to go to my FFL here in Calif (it's registered here in Calif) & have it sent to my sisters FFL in Oregon. But I'm going to visit her next month & her FFL said I could just bring it to Oregon & transfer it at his place. But isn't this agains't Calif law? Thank You! Bill

Must be transferred through Oregon FFL dealer. Does not need to be sent from an FFL.

Also note that C&R licenses are worthless in Oregon.

Send it to ffl using usps yourself or take it and her to Oregon ffl and do transaction. Anything else is FUD. If sending then she has to find ffl in Oregon that accepts from ppt.

Thank You Milsurp 1 & Edgerly779! Alright! I'll just take it up there when I go!
Already found an FFL in Oregon that has no problem transferring it. $25 + $10 = $35 & she walks out the door with it on the spot! A 'free for now' state... Bill

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I would also like the specifics on that.

$10 is the background fee. The $25 is the dealer charge for doing the transfer.

I've done transfers at 3 different FFLs here in Klamath Falls. $25 total every time.

You can legally take the rifle directly to a Oregon FFL, by horse, car, plane, boat, or whatever private transportation you have. There is no state or federal law against that and there is no requirement for you to use a CA FFL to ship it to a FFL in Oregon.

And unless you plan to take a bus there, there is no reason to mail it to yourself there. Transport it in your own vehicle, unloaded and locked in a case or in the trunk.
