I attended the classroom portion for renewal on Monday and the topic of "freedom week" mags came up. The instructor responded that you can only use them at home but it is a misdemeanor if you take them out in public. Wrong place to quote Michels but I do not see how even he can believe his statement when he says the are legal at home but not away from there. I personally do not see how this works.

I was told almost 10 years ago at a range that every fire arm in california must be locked during transport and had assault weapon style destination clauses.
There is alot of fud around and my real fear is that alot of police officers dont have a good handle on our convoluted laws.Comment

My instructor said so many things wrong that I made a list at the time. Not only did he say you'll go to jail if you use an 11+ magazine, but he said that the hollow points cause damage because they expand in flight and he recommended Serpa holster he was wearing even though they are banned at many ranges due to safety concerns.
Pass the class, get CCW, know the law, avoid confrontation and situations where you could use your firearm...sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

What county was this in?
At least one county has a requirement that you can't carry 10+round mags with their permits even if you own them legally. Another county won't let you carry anything that was transferred under a roster exempt DROS transfer (such as SSE). Issuance agencies are allowed to add whatever restrictions on their permits that they want to.Comment

My IA said they were fine. I recently went back to 10 on my P-01 because of the weight and I’m in SF often which has a ban. 10+1 plus a spare is fine. 16+1 plus a spare was clunky.Comment
