I doubt it. Any officer knows an impaired driver after following him/her for a couple of blocks. Even I can tell.

      The DL does.
Maybe the license plate leads to the name & the name leads to gun ownership info?

I will never consent to search because
        1) I have nothing to hide
        2) I will not have my rights violated because he wants to look for a non existent crime.

They can't possibly know from my drivers license, I have a PO box for my address. Just ask the Walmart ammo guy.

Plates alone won’t give enough info to pull gun checks.
Needs at least name, DOB, SSN to get data like that. Police can pull them but the data isn’t very specific as it reports (been a while, but the ones I’ve seen don’t read easily). Officer would need time and some reason to fumble through your file for info like that.

Early in the encounter the officer tells me he knows I own a "military style" firearm but I can't remember if he said it right after he stopped me or after he ran my drivers license. I am curious as to how they know now. I consented to a search with no problem. Regarding the "military style" firearm all I did was buy a lower a few years ago that I am planning on assembling in a few years after I retire and leave this state. I ended up getting a citation for an inoperative license plate lamp.
You consented? And what was the reason they pulled you over in the first place? And do you have decals on your vehicle, like maybe a "Come and take it" sticker?

                              cop: " I noticed you have a military-style weapon."

You " I hope your vest camera is recording because if you hit on me again with some kind of sexual line like that, there's going to be a big public lawsuit.
