    Yes.

You get a Firearms Safety Certificate, and a parent or grandparent (and no other relative) may give you a firearm, handgun or long gun. See the wiki article http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...Family_Members

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Librarian's reply is solid. If you have your own residence.

If still living with parents. It is still solid if you wish to OWN the firearm.

If your question is strictly HOME defense, and you live with parents. Any firearm owned by your parents is GTG for home defense. Use of firearm for HOME DEFENSE, does not require you to personally own the firearm used.

It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Why not just take the class?

Adopt a dog, lock your doors, get a security camera, learn to accept the muzzle of oppression from your government?

As others said, take some time and just do the hunter's safety course... I thought I read recently it is only about 1/2 day including some online content.

I did mine many years ago and it was a full day class. No big deal. Nothing really learned as my friend already gave me all the info.

                  OP....librarian nailed it.

Have family gift you something like a semi-auto shotgun.
Easy to use, effective, and affordable.

Because unless you are involved in an ongoing illegal criminal enterprise (black market weed/robbing banks/murdering people) you can legally have a firearm and use it to defend yourself.

File a civil rights lawsuit with Excremento. Find a legal team to carry it. Maybe by the time you are 30 it will be resolved?

He said firearm or I'd of recommended a morningstar/flail or a macuahuitl. I didn't recommend an antique firearm like old Mosin or something because there would be the issue of legally obtaining ammo.

They are not considered firearms and you can have them delivered to your door. Handgun, rifle, or shotgun.
