    gun show questions

Going to the Gun show in Sac on saturday (I know prob a waste of time) but I want to sell a couple of C&R rifles(not currently C&R licensed) Having never done this before I wanted to know what the procedure is. Is it just cash and carry? Can I sell to anyone who wants to buy them. One is a enfield and the other is a french berthier carbine. both are over 50 years old. Thanks in advance

If you have a C&R license, I'm pretty sure you have to 4473 the purchaser and log it out to them in your bound book.

If you're just average 'joe civilian' any long gun over 50 years can be sold cash & carry.

+1 AFAIK; that the way we've been doin' it anyway. The "front desk" will most likely want to see the lil' tag filled out and signed off by you to the new owner- THAT is about the only requirement...well that and DONT go trying it in the parking lot without raising more than a few eyebrows and breaking a couple (City?) ordinances......
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

3.)Remember...Buy it cheap & stack it deep

C&R license holders do not process a 4473 when selling a C&R firearm to anyone. 4473 forms are only used by firearms dealers (01FFL license holders).

As a C&R license holder, you are only supposed to log the name, address, and birthdate of the person you are transferring the firearm to.

As far as knowing whether or not the person you are transferring said firearm to is not disqualified from owning or purchasing a firearm, I don't know where the liability falls upon. Frankly, I don't feel comfortable selling a 50+ year old C&R long gun in a FTF transfer to someone I don't know.

I've sold only two 50+ year old C&R rifles in a FTF transfer. Both times I sold them to friends of mine I met at my club's shooting range. I know both people very well and know that they are not disqualified from owning firearms (we all share an aquaintance at our range who does transfers on non-C&R guns for us). I have only sold two C&R rifles to out of State buyers. One had a C&R license of his own. The other did not, but asked me to send it to his local 01FFL.
