    Steyr Aug Question

I tried to change out the flash hider with a muzzle brake and quickly learned that it has a left hand twist instead of the usual thread on ARs. Can't find one anywhere. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. I have seen some on Gunbroker.com but the prices are ridiculous.

I see Turner's still selling these rifles. Anybody know what they are using? Or can post a link to something else?

Rifle will remain in parts unless I can figure this out.

    Thanks

Check ratworx, they sell a thread adapter for it.

The older Steyr ones were left hand.
The newer Microtech ones are right hand.
I have shortened and threaded a bunch of AUG barrels over the years to get rid of the left hand threads so that any 1/2-28 right hand threaded muzzle device can be used.

Yea on the new production ones it says it comes with a 1/2-28 thread pitch. So you might only need to buy a muzzle brake.

AUG barrel extension if you have a 16" barrel.
The Strike Industries Thread Converter for AUG pattern muzzle threads allows one to use more commonly available 1/2x28 muzzle devices. The thread adapter also has the added benefit of bringing the overall length of the firearm to 30” with A2 length flash hiders for restricted states. This product is intended to help users meet the overall length requirement for rifles in all states and it allows the user to have a more cosmetic and functional barrel extension providing greater customizability and better aesthetics.

I just ordered a thread adapter from CNC since I already have the compensator.

                    Thanks

That is pretty cool for more options on muzzle devices, and for OAL issues.

Except for the fact that for OAL issues each component will have to be pinned/welded

Really, was there a new law I missed? It used to be that as long as your permanent barrel was at least 16" on a rifle anything you added (front or back of the weapon) to reach California's OAL requirement did NOT have to be "pinned and welded".
