Dumb question regarding full auto that I see on YouTube

I see guys with modern looking automatics firing away.

I though you could only purchase pre-1986 full auto receivers with a tax stamp in free states.

Do these guys have a firearms manufacturer's or other kind of license or are they just upgrading the heck out of an old receiver?

Also, when you buy a full auto receiver and it breaks, are you done if it cannot be repaired?

Saw some at the gun show in AZ for high five figures. Ouch.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Just as people rent cars and people for videos

People also rent guns for shoots from those that have them.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Most receivers can be repaired by talented gunsmiths, but if not, yes, you are done.

The ATF frowns on substantially altering a full transferable machine gun into something else. You can get away with cosmetic alterations as long as it is not drastic. Most guns you see in the wild are going to be post-86 samples held by manufacturers or dealers with demo letters. Big Sandy, KNob Creek, gun range rentals will all be post samples with very few full transferables.

I have seen full transferable machine guns rebuilt from the just the metal holding the serial number. Otherwise insurance is your friend.

Yep once you get your hands on them fully it's fun as hack. Never had to rent one but shooting a few is always great in the hands. Most that never shot fully will shock them completely. But Thierry a way to shoot it, just like snow boarding

Transferred only to LE, military, etc or Class III dealer. Not to a non-dealer individual.

Okay, please explain more behind this process. I live in Wyoming and want to reap all the benefits of this freedom state. Without having an FFL license how may one go about a post 86 machine gun?

                          be very well connected
if you do not know how to get one you are not well enough connected so explaining won't do you any good.
the law is clear about allowing post 86 guns to be transferable. getting it approved is a whole different challenge.

Depending on the gun, it may also be a new build with a registered trigger pack or sear. My friend has a few HKs, and one registered sear that he can move from gun to gun.

About $3000 a year in licensing and Itar fees to the feds.
Fancy background check the first year.
Besides the feds, your local city, county and state will also put their hands out for their fees and compliance requirements so maybe a couple thousand more for insurance and security system requirements depending on your locality.
Some cities will require your license to be at a commercial address so figure on all the associated costs of running a business like rent, utilities etc if you are in one of those cities.
The feds will require you to have listed business hours so they can do your annual spot check and so customers can get to you.
Your name, license address, phone and operating hours are publicly listed in the federal directory that is updated every month.
