    Surefire P116c weapon light

Does anyone know of a relatively safe way to remove the shuttle switch / strap from this weapon light

This is an older model that has that switch integrated. I don't believe there is a way to remove that without taking thing apart. Why do you need to remove the switch?

I had to look at mine. I don't think there is an easy way to take it out since it looks integrated to the body of the light.

Are you trying to mount it on another pistol than it was not designed for?

I ended up just retiring mine since the seals have warped and couldn't find any replacement parts.

Gotcha, yes, I am trying to install it on another pistol. It appears that the electrical portion is inside the body, and the shuttle / strap portion is completely outside of it. Unless the circuit would be broken, it looks like I can remove the strap...cut it off, and still be ok. Any thoughts?

It's your light, but you're probably right that you can cut off the grip activation and still have a working light. But why ruin an additional functionality when you can get any number of good, quality weapon mounted lights nowadays for very reasonable prices?

These were a bit temperamental when you dig into them. Surefire used a proprietary epoxy in a several places that required that you send them back to them to have them switched over to another handgun type. The X200 series was the first handgun light like that they intended to have a removable back door to allow for a pressure switch or none at all.

As it is, its really more of a collectible light. I have a few from back in the day when they were :the thing" to have. If you check out even ebay, they tend to go rather quickly. There are plenty who would love it as is if you ever desire to run a different more modern light.

I personally have a love for the M900 series which are of the same vintage.
