    Doj after 20years

okay I have no clue how anyone has yet to talk about this in any shape or form! So what if 20 years are over from Y.O.P (year of purchase) does this mean that all recorded document will be neutralizeR from doj? Yes I understand that it's not going away even if that 20 years are over unless you sale, lost, or stolen, and etc. However does this mean that the firearm under your name becomes unregister? Or becomes some type of c&r class. but Than again their that registered form with the doj that you have to apply and paid the $19 to mail/send it in. So to whom it may concern or has been owning their guns over that time period, what did you end up doing or leave alone?

Take a breath, step back, and tell us what you're talking about, perhaps?

There's no significance to the 20 year mark with California DOJ. No information ever gets "Neutralized." I have handguns registered to me back in 1975 that still show in AFS.

The only significance to the 20 year mark is that FFL's can destroy their copies of the Form 4473.

No. The firearm does not change "class" because you've owned it for a certain period of time. The ATF controls classification of arms:

To be recognized as C&R items, 478.11 specifies that firearms must fall within one of the following categories:
        • Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas of such firearms;
        • Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, state, or federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; and
        • Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.
Nor does the firearm become unregistered. I don't know what 20 year limit you're referring to, but FFLs are required to keep DROS records for 3 years from date of sale, after which they can be destroyed.
        https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/dlrfaqs (item 33)

The DoJ will not (as far as I'm aware) destroy any registration records that have been reported to them (pistols before 2014, pistols and long guns for 2014 and after).

There is nothing for you to do if you have owned a firearm for any period of time. If you no longer posses the firearm, you can file a "Notice of No Longer In Possession" form with the DoJ

CA DOJ firearm registration system is a historical database.
          ^No record gets deleted.

Since 1996, CA DOJ BOF has been tasked to enter all their firearm "registration" records into the database.
^These records go back to 1924.

I gotta disagree. I had a wise old Master Chief who gave me a real good definition of "Old" and "Really Old."

The way the Master Chief explained it, a person is "Old" when their date of birth is five years earlier than yours. When that span reaches ten years, then they are "Really Old."

That made a lot of sense to me. When I was 18, a person of 23 was "Old" and a person of 28 was "Really Old." The common wisdom at the time was "Don't trust anyone over 30."

Now that I'm on the wrong side of 60, I can look at a person of 65 and see a youngster, while a person of 75 is just starting to get old.

              Everything is relative.

The real wisdom of the Master Chief's observations came when I realized that when you applied his rule, you yourself could never become "Old" let alone become "Really Old." Only the people around you could become old. I really liked that aspect.

The Master Chief should know, he had a tremendous amount of life experience. He told me that he had been a Third Class Petty Officer on the Ark serving under Noah.

Too bad Hillary couldn’t have taken a hammer to cal doj’s servers as well and have all those gun records disappear. Grab’n Gavin would have an aneurism.

                        Good times.

Although if they could loose about 30K AFS records, I'm sure nobody would shed a tear
