Mag finger extension pinching my finger

    Hey all,

I bought a finger extension for my G-26 stock mag and about 2-4 times per 10 round mag, the gap between the extension and the grip pinches my pinky finger when I shoot.

Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Probably a slight gap that you don't notice. When you increase your grip pressure your meat in your hands fills the void and during recoil your meat gets pinched.

Your meat in your hands deform into little crevices. Take a look at some of the ball cut grips that are smooth with 3 vertical cuts, feels smooth in the hand, but when you grip down hard, your meat fills the 3 cuts and provides for a solid lock up in your hand.

You may want to take a look at different style/type extensions and see how they work out for you.

That is a common problem with finger extensions.

I have an x-grip i use with my 26. It allows a full grip if you have G19 mags.

Perhaps you could use 1 or more rubber bands, O rings, etc. to fill the gap.

I get that with my husband’s, too. I have a feeling we have the same one. I’ve seen people post pictures of some that look like they wouldn’t pinch (at least not as bad). This is what mine looks like:

My solution, bought a Glock 19. Hubby can keep his 26. He’s a better shot than me anyway. I couldn’t shoot the 26 well at all.

Somebody suggested filing the “pointy” part down a bit, but since I just bought a different gun, we didn’t try it.

            1) Just Dremel that pointed lip of the Pearce extender (that upper pointed lip that, when inserted, meets near the frame, at the front). You can see it in Widdle’s post pic. It takes 20 seconds.

Round it off so that it’s smooth and flatter....and half the size as original, or less. Then it won’t pinch.

2). If no Dremel, sand it down by hand

3). You can also buy rubber O-rings at the hardware store that will fit over the mag and slide it down to the extender. That will fill the gap when the mag is inserted, so your skin won’t go into that gap. Just make sure the O-ring is not too thick or your mag won’t fully seat.

            .

Hyve makes some really good extensions at a very reasonable price.

Pearce extensions don't just leave a gap, they also have a sharp part to try to "contour" with the end of the bottom finger group that makes it significantly worse.

Try a few other extensions, the NDZ ones look all right, but I haven't tried very many myself. I found myself being perfectly comfortable shooting with a 26 mag. If I want a full grip I'll use a 19 mag.

Thanks to all for the replies. I've been offline for a while, but will try all the above and see what happens.
