?? RRA R3 Comp - opinions ??

It’s a 16” BCM with a chrome lined standard weight barrel and a VTI rail system. It will shoot 7/8” groups with Perfecta and pmc bronze at 100 yards, which was what the R3 did. Maybe that’s just my limitations, but for comparison my 20” colt HBAR was real finicky on what it shot well. I just have the BCM and an AR-10 now.

Thank you for sharing that. I know what the standard BCM barrel is, it is lighter, but bigger dia. on muzzzle end. All good things I hear about BCM . though.
But, Deadcoyote, how did you feel about the kick/muzzle rise, w/ the RRA Comp? Part the reason I ask, is its 18" barrel, w/ a mid length, gas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldnt most 18", be a rifle lenght gas?

Barrel weight drives accuracy.
Wanting less weight means wanting less accuracy.
Pick what is more important to you between accuracy and weight.

Thank you for bringing me back to the basics. I'm OK, w/ the RRA Comps weight I think. I looked into the STAG, equivelant, which is called the 3G, and its rifle length, gas, instead of mid length gas, like the RRA R3 Comp.

Can you comment, or give me your preference of the two, or why you think RRA, put a mid length gas on that?

Given the same barrel length and chambering, the longer the gas system, the smoother the gun will generally shoot until you get to the point where there is not enough barrel past the gas port and the gas port has to be made very large to function.
