    POF P-308 bolt question

On an AR-15, the bolt clicks into place in the upper when installed.

My new to me POF .308 bolt does not. If I tilt up the upper, the bolt slides out but is kept from falling out by the charging handle.

Is this the way it is supposed to be or is their an issue?

    TIA,
    RP

Yeah. The bolt on both of my POF 308 upper, one old and one new, will slide out if the uppers are tilted muzzle end up.

Gas rings on the bolt are what causes the bolt to "click" into place.

Is your POF a gas piston setup?
If so, it likely does not have gas rings.
Some gas piston AR's even have a spring to help the bolt unlock and that spring fights against the carrier which makes the carrier pop open with gravity.

Piston. It's my first piston AR.

          Learned something new.

          Thank you,
