    CMP 1911 choices

Well folks, my number is up. Got offered a service or field grade. For $100 more, I'd think I'd get the service grade, but I'm hearing mixed reports about them. Wanted to get the CalGuns insider info on these if anyone has anything to share.

Some are saying the service grades are mostly reparkerized (slides only?) and that the field grades are more often showing up with their original finish and a nicely worn patina to them. Any thoughts? Kinda torn between the two and looking to put my order in tomorrow or Friday.

I'm going to say my prayers tonight for a Colt 1911. Was the first gun I ever shot.
God may have made men, but Samuel Colt made them equal.

Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

I haven’t seen one of the field grades but I’m really happy with my Service grade. Completely reparkerized. I asked for a colt don’t know if they really listened but got a colt slide on a Remington rand lower. Fit and finish are pretty good and it shoots nice.

Got any pics? Some of the field grades look pretty good for their age (have seen some 10s/20s recently)

        My # is 9098

Is the $100 about 10% more?
I'd gamble on the better one.
