    Nashville NRA convention 2020

Ive have never been to Nashville and am in hopes some friends have attended a previous convention and will tell us what to expect regarding recommended hotels.

Also of interest is the downtown parking availability and is it a city where one does not really want to drive ?

I like to stay at the Gaylord Opryland Resort when I go to Nashville. It is a giant complex with everything you need under one roof, it sort of reminds me of the Venetian in Vegas. It really works if that is also where your convention is.

I have never driven around there, always Uber or private tour bus.

I'm waiting for the NRA convention to be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. I won't miss that one.

If you are going to the Moscone center bring your nose plugs, certified haz-mat suit for each day, get all your shots, and bring an anti-beggars sign that says "no spare change or money". rent a car with full coverage so your is not damaged or stolen. Welcome to San Francisco.

Tootsies is worth going to (if you are into that type of thing) but to say the best music in town in Music City, USA is a big stretch. It's a wild tourist honky tonk with some history backing up to the Ryman auditorium.

Gaylord which was mentioned above is by the airport and not downtown.

If you are looking to go you better book now the city is on fire and the hotels will book up quick if not already and can get very pricy.

Look towards Music Row and near Vanderbilt for some alternate hotels to right downtown but still less than 10 minute Uber ride. Also some close to some real honky tonks that the locals would be seen at. Best hotel downtown, but will be tough as it is next to the arena, connected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and across from the convention center is the Omni.

A place a couple blocks away that is not bad is the Renaissance. Visiting NFL teams stay there.

Hit the Palm restaurant across from the arena if you want to run into someone important in the music business. Lunch time is the who's who for power lunches for managers, record label heads, agents, etc etc....

Check out the Blue Bird Cafe (make reservations way in advance) for an authentic songwriters guitar pull showcase. Highly recommended.

Get a tour of Music Row by someone who knows Music Row. You can drive down it and not have a clue what you are looking at. With a trained guide you will be blown away.

Let me think on this I will be back for more.

I've been to Moscone before. I know all the requirements. City Hall would have a heart attack. That would be epic.

Must see? Sure. Best music? You're way off..

A few places I highly recommend since moving here in no particular order:
                  • Martin's
                  • Peg Leg Porker
                  • Bourbon Street Blues
                  • Rudy's Jazz Room
                  • Monell's
                  • Prince's

Open to questions for my CalGuns bros!! If anyone comes out, I'm always down for a range day out here as well. I'll be here and going to the convention.

God may have made men, but Samuel Colt made them equal.

Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

I just booked my room this morning at Hotel Preston. Some are pricey! I like a nice Hotel, but outside the Preston I was looking at about a grand for three nightts. I'm driving there, so I'll have wheels. I drove to the one in Indy and had a great time. Also never been to Nashville, so tagging to follow this for things to do, see, etc.

Thank you friends, we are still looking into hotels and other activities before and after the convention.

Ive always wanted to visit Alvin York state park. This is probably a good time for that too !
