With Colt going out of the long gun business for civilians I would buy it immediately.

For that money there are better options, so my thought is meh, unless you always wanted a Colt, then jump on it!

All this colt news smells of a marketing stunt.

One question I have is who is making these featureless? Is it Turners? A distributor? Or Colt (unlikely). Once I saw the big boys start to ship California bullet button models (ala Sig) it seemed like a matter of time until we got new restrictions.

from what i heard second hand, turners hires local FFL07 shops to convert for them.

unless turners themselves also hold a 07 license which is what you need in order to "manufacture" firearms for sale.

this is why gun shops who only hold the 01 won't put on that brake or remove the flash hider when your rifle comes in configured wrong, as they are legally not allowed to modify firearms in any way.

Hard pass - not much demand for ARs at the moment unless you're buying the Beto Special which are priced right (not Colt though but $349.99).

Wow, more midgrade ARs. How exciting.

But but but these have the happy pony rollmark! And they're gonna stop selling to civilians soon! And NO ONE ELSE make a better one for less monies!

All sarcasm. In an age when every other manufacturer makes an equal or better quality AR-15, Colt's abandonment of the civilian market is unimportant. Not having a Colt gun in the choices of ARs out there will be like not finding pistachio ice cream at Baskin Robbins- there are still 31 barrels of other flavors. You'll find something you like.

And they'll probably jump back into the civilian AR market someday when they think they can make money at it again.

Yep, I only have a Colt M4 because I got a decent deal on one, otherwise it would be some other brand. I will admit I did prefer getting a Colt as it's what we train on for my .mil service. But other than personal preference, mil spec is mil spec.

                    Colt would be nice but...

I will save my money and buy one (used) after I finish other projects. Might be a few years but who knows.

Been there, done that. My Pony M4 was sold years ago. Worse off the shelf AR I ever had.

At those prices I would prefer something like a sig m400. There are plenty of ARs that have upgrades over milspec. Like QD points milled in, oversized trigger guards, screw stops to remove upper/lower play, oversized magwell, ambi controls, upgraded pins, drop in triggers.

Really milspec is going for about $400 these days. It's going to need more than the colt name to pay 3x.

I'm not buying, just wanted to know everybody's input. Yeah pricey compared to market status.
