First of all, if you live in Kern County, you should probably have your CCW. If you need help finding a reason, I can help you with that.
However, if you travel out of state a lot, your Utah CCW is even easier to get. I took the class on Monday March 16 at Powers Security Training (I also did my initial and do my CCW renewal with them too). The class was well organized, they fed us, and your $150 class course fee includes fingerprints, notary, and an envelope to mail it all in.
I just checked my checking account and Utach cashed my check on April 14th, so I should expect my permit in about a month.
I just checked the Powers calendar of events and their next class is tomorrow! However, just in case you can't make it on such short notice, the next one is Friday June 5.
I travel enough to the SHOT Show and the Acusport show, why shouldn't I start carrying. I even went on that manly Geocaching road trip to New Mexico and it would have been nice to been able to carry (even though it was legal to have a loaded handgun in the car) and I wish I had applied sooner.

I just thought I would pass on my experience and encourage everyone to get a permit if you can. Especailly an in state CCW. It is rediculous that other residents of this state would love to have an in state CCW and they can't and if you live in Kern County it is just about shall issue. Arm yourselves citizens! And to it for your fellow Calgunners who wish they lived in such a great county. You owe it to them when you travel through their counties to be armed!
