    Buying Ammo

Hello I have a question about buying ammo with the new law, do you have to be a gun owner to be able to buy ammunition?

From what i've read around here, you don't have to have any guns but your first ammo purchase will cost $19 instead of $1 for a background check. After that I believe it's $1 for future purchases.

FYI - Prop-63 allows you to 'share' (not sell) ammo with friends and family (non prohibited persons) with NO background check or fees required

That part of Prop 63 did not go into effect.

Transfer of ownership of ammo without the use of a CA licensed ammunition vendor is limited to spouse, registered domestic partner, and immediate family members (grandparent - parent - child - grandchild). [PC 30312(c)(10)]

Transfer of ownership of ammo between friends and non-immediate family members still need to be done through a CA licensed ammuntion vendor. [PC 30312(a)]

I'm confused. I see private party ads on calguns selling ammo. How do you do that?

              By law, through an FFL.

instead of handgun ppt, think of it as ammo ppt.

so what does the law say if i left ammo out, and a "friend" steals it, and i don't want to press charges nor do i report the theft?
