Its been interesting to read all the posts about the gunbroker auctions that wont sell to ca, as well as the thread on Larue not selling lowers to CA.
The general consensus on here was that many people will not do business with dealers or MFG's that dont ship to CA. I recently tried to buy a .22 and had a similar experience.
When I went to buy my .22 Anshutz rifle, the only place I could find it was in Ohio by a company called Champion shooters supply. A older man I spoke with on the phone said he wasnt set up to sell to ca and didnt think he was ever going to do it either. I just assumed it was alot of paperwork but after asking on here and researching it, I realized it was very simple to do the paperwork to be able to sell and ship to ca. I ended up just shipping it to my ca address, but I had to call the company back to check on shipping and spoke with the wifes owner. I explained to her it was a pain for me to have to travel back to nevada just to get my .22 bolt action rifle and she told me the reason behind why they wont sell to california.
I cant remember her whole rant, but basically she said CA was breaking federal interstate laws by forcing FFLs to fill out that form to sell and ship to CA, and that she wasnt going to bend to a state that is breaking the law by demanding something like that. She was very insistent that what CA has done is illegal and she and others are taking a stand until the citizens of the state step up and get the law changed.
I tried to explain to her that we are doing the best we can and are constantly battling the state politicians, but I could tell she was having none of my argument. It just got me thinking, that just like we take a stand about not buying from these out of state FFL dealers, they are doing the same thing with the state of CA.
It made me think that there are 2 sides to the coin.
