Best Cleaning Kit and CLP and REM Oil

The OTIS pull cable kits work well. The Armorer's kit covers a wide range of firearms, long and short, and calibers, or you can get a caliber specific kit.
I like BreakFree CLP for nearly one stop cleaning, lubrication, and protection. I'm sure the Frog Lube fanboys will chime in soon.Last edited by Jeepergeo; 09-03-2019, 8:42 AM.Benefactor Life Member, National Rifle Association

I use the Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil my truck uses.Comment

My vote goes to Ballistol, the German version. The U.S. repackaged Ballistol is also ok.
For deep cleaning the barrel, Hoppe's No. 9.Comment

Here's the thing with most kits. And this is just my opinion. But you often get a bunch of stuff you don't need...like caliber brushes for calibers you don't have, etc. And you usually get a very small quantity of the stuff you do need...like solvent, oil, CLP, patches, etc. In very short order you will be re-ordering the core materials. So you might as well just do that from the start along with a nice high quality cleaning rod from Tipton, Dewey, MTX, etc. You'll spend a bit more initially probably. But you'll likely end up with better stuff and a reasonable quantity of things.
For oils and grease I like Wilson Combat's Ultima Lube a lot. For solvent I like Breakthrough Clean. But Hoppe's is good and so are M-Pro 7 products. Honestly, people like to debate cleaning and lubrication products but the vast majority of them will work just fine. The Breakthrough Clean solvent is a good choice, however, if you've got a wife or GF who doesn't appreciate the fine scent of Hoppe's.
As for Kits, if you do go that route, Otis generally makes decent stuff but any of the more well known brands are usually fine."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

There are a lot of CLP products on the market, it boils down to what you're shooting and what is your preference.
For me, I want a CLP to not only work well in protecting and lubricating my guns, I also want it to be safe to handle (e.g. non-toxic) and smell as little as possible. I do keep my guns close to where I sleep and stinking oil isn't something I want to deal with in the bedroom.
As it turns out, the military does have similar requirements and have a series of tests for CLP products to run through to pass certifications. This is the MIL-PRF-63460F (Type A) and a product that passed this test, and is available to the general public, is the G96 Synthetic CLP Gun Oil. Been using this product for quite a while now and it works pretty well.
They have a even better Bio based product that is also military approved, but is pretty expensive and I think a bit overkill for my purposes. But if you really must have the absolute best, the Bio based product is this one: http://www.g96.com/products/military...-clp-gun-oil/#Comment

MP7 for lube and Remoil for triggers and a light parts coat before storage. There is no such thing as cleans and protects. If if removes carbon it does not lube. The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.
