    From the California DOJ Website:

What documentation is acceptable proof of residency for handgun purchasers?
    1. Utility bill from within the past three months that bears on its face the individual's name and either of the following:
      1. The individual's current residential address as declared on the DROS form; or
      2. The individual's residential address as it appears on his or her California Driver License or California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto.

"Utility bill" means a statement of charges for providing service to the individual's residence by either a physical connection (i.e., hard wired Internet, telephone connection or cable connection, or a water or gas pipeline connection) or a telemetric connection (i.e., satellite television or radio broadcast service) to a non-mobile, fixed antenna reception device.
    2. Residential lease that bears the individual's name and either of the following:
      1. The individual's current residential address as declared on the DROS form; or
      2. The individual's address as it appears on his or her California Driver License or California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto. "Residential lease" means either of the following:
        1. A signed and dated contract by which the individual (tenant) agrees to pay a specified monetary sum or provide other consideration for the right to occupy an abode for a specified period of time; or
        2. A signed and dated rental agreement by which the individual (tenant) agrees to pay a specified monetary sum or provide other consideration at fixed intervals for the right to occupy an abode.

    3. Property deed that bears the individual's name and either of the following:
      1. The individual's current residential address as declared on the DROS form; or
      2. The individual's address as it appears on his or her California Driver License or California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto. “Property deed" means either or the following:
        1. A valid deed of trust for the individual's property of current residence that identifies the individual as a grantee of the trust; or
        2. A valid Certificate of Title issued by a licensed title insurance company that identifies the individual as a title holder to his or her property of current residence.

    4. Current, government-issued license, permit, or registration, other than a California Driver License or California Identification Card, that has a specified expiration date or period of validity. The license, permit, or registration must bear the individual's name and either of the following:
      1. The individual's current residential address as declared on the DROS form; or
      2. The individual's address as it appears on his or her California Driver License, California Identification Card, or change of address attachment thereto.

Examples of acceptable proof of residency:
      • Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit.
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE.)
      • Curio and Relic (C &R) Federal Firearms License (03 FFL) with name and address.
      • Current DMV Disabled Placard.

      • Cellular Phone bill.
      • Fishing Validations and Report Cards.

What's the issue with the rental agreement? Your uncle and aunt don't want anything to do with you? That's quicker.. If you need a federal doc you can update your voter registration.

As always, check with the FFL you're going to. Regardless of what we say in this forum you can use doesn't mean the FFL will accept it.

So the last thing I would need is proof of residency

I do not have a car in my name or no utility bills at all. They refuse to put me on their bills i.e. electric, power, or water.

If my aunt chooses to put me on one of their utility bills, can a computer print out be suffice.

I want to do a rental agreement, however, my uncle has concerns that I am only staying there.

I am jumping through all these hoops to get back what is lawfully mine.

            Please advise
Am I missing something? Who do you have to get your firearms back from?

File a "change of address" from the post office. They will mail you a confirmation at that address. It's government-issued and serves as proof of address

No it doesn't for CA DOJ. It doesn't have a period of validity on it.

How is her mortgage insurance going to get a copy of the document that you hand to your FFL?

ETA: the lease agreement can be for $0. At which point even if they did get a copy of it what do they care? It's clearly not a "rental" as they expect it to be..

Get a Real ID from California DMV. Go to the DMV website and download the pdf with the Real ID requirements. Computer printouts for certain things like utility bills, cell bill, bank statements are allowed. You can start the process online. With a Real ID you shouldn't have any DROS problems.

I posted the link to the pdf.

Need a REAL ID driver's license or ID card? Here's how!

Voter registration is State not Federal.

i am going to get a "real id" . Will this be sufficient to pass dros? unfortunatly getting a fishing license even if stated by the DOJ can be used, hosever, my ffl dealer does not.
I know the to get my "real ID" . I have to see if i can find paperwork with my new address. I am going to go tomorrow to the post office to see if they can re print my change of address confirmation .
