Normally a "you'll shoot your eye out" joke would be said but when a child is really shot it no laughing matter. Poor kid

I don't know, but was the shooter blood related to Cheney in any way?

I am impressed with the parents abiltiy to think rationally. These days so many people would lash out the DFG, guns or the shooter, it's nice to see that they haven't gone over to the Brady camp, over such an unfortunate accident.

I wouldn't mind donating some money to the youngster, I am sure they are going to need some financial assistance. Anyone else?

Maybe the local TV station could provide contact info.

I see that an account has been set up for the boy. There is a link at the bottom of the story.

An account has been set up for Ledoux and his family at Metro 1 Credit Union in Concord. Send your contribution to:

Sorry,I was having some issues attaching this link, hope it works.

Hope they can save his eye.

Poor judgment on the shooter with regards to zone of fire... one of the issues discussed in the safety class.

I thought funds were mostly derived from hunting licenses and other fees to support DFG.

By the way, the article reads like it was written by a 10 year old.

All I can say is safety glasses... Was he wearing any, my sons always wear safety glasses around firearms. BUT, a shot so close, they may not have helped... I hope to dear god he doesn't lose site in his other eye...

You really ought to wear safety glasses while hunting. We were reminded of this quail hunting one year when a 15 yr old cousin of mine got splahback from pellets that hit a tree, and one nailed him right in his eyebrow. He alsmost shot his own eye out.

                  I hope the kid recivers.

Good safety glasses will stop a .22 bullet. The glasses wont hold together but your going to keep your eye.

The article also managed to mention that the hunting trip was funded for with taxpayer money. I wonder how that comment is even in the slightest bit relevant to this story.

Safety glasses would have really helped against that birdshot
