Maybe I don't understand panic buys, but what keeps people (other than ignorance) from ordering 5 $30 lowers from Primary Arms or whatever and shipping it to a transfer FFL? Is it just ignorance? I remember paying $200 in a panic buy for a stripped lower, and I wonder if I could have just bought one online and had it shipped to a transfer FFL if I knew about it.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

That's partly my point--the people walking into LGS's and purchasing built AR's are mostly new to the field.
Most likely, these are first time buyers. They wouldn't know they could just buy a stripped lower and piece together their dream machine, which could perform a store-bought for significantly less.

And maybe they shouldn't do it that way, or they may build it with illegal features.

So yes, your point is--they probably are ignorant.

Heard on KGO this morning a news snippet of a proposed "assault weapon" buy back plan. No details as I had just parked to commute to work. But, if they were to offer me what I paid for it, I MIGHT consider it. If it's a $100 gift card, they will have zero rifles to "buy back".

I can see it now.. A thread starting for where to find the best buy back location once the turn em in or else hammer comes down.
                Sad...

Was looking at a WASR but at $850 not worth it. Better wait until the panic stops. Unless that cult following for this cheap but good gun is true and the price has been climbing slowly over the years. Used to be like 400.

That was a long time ago when there were plenty Aks to be had including Saigas and Molots. Blame the Russians for being in the Crimea for drying up there supply to the US(import ban). if you can get a bare bones M+M Romanian for 600, buy it!

Only reason anyone should be panic buying is because they're extremely young. Anyone over 24 is a Johnny come lately.
