SCOTUS won't let it happen post Heller. California's registration & ban wouldn't hold water either if SCOTUS took up the case today. What the government is calling an "assault weapon" clearly falls into the categorical definition of what SCOTUS determined a protected class of weapon..... By every definition.

Good luck Excremento finding my featureless rifles. I never could figure out why anyone would register an "@ss-salt weapon" in this state, that's like giving it away before they come and take it.

I thought the consensus hedging strategy was to do registered BBAW, featureless, fixed, stripped lower, and whatever else your risk tolerance permitted? At least you can take the first three to the range without concern.

We will know much more in advance since the bill not only has to be written, but it must go through committees, pass the vote and be signed into law.

There will be ample time to convert to featureless per the current law if there is a perceived risk. You can also always get creative after the law is passed...
