2 men with sticks leave gunman alone
RED BLUFF - Two men brought sticks Tuesday to a gunfight near here.
Tehama County sheriff's deputies said Wednesday morning they were called about 5:40 p.m. to a disturbance outside a Highway 99 residence.
Deputies were told two men with sticks were outside the home of Cody Floyd, 39, and wanted him to come outside.
Floyd reportedly did so with a silver handgun and fired a single shot into the ground, deputies were told, adding that he then went back inside and the two men left.
Floyd refused to talk with deputies about the incident and he was not arrested, they said.
The case will be sent to the Tehama County district attorney's office for possible prosecution as a negligent discharge of a firearm, deputies said.
