Coyote Point (San Mateo) range still open?

Is the range at Coyote Point still open to the public on MWF evenings?

On the rifle range do they have intermediate distances for targets (25, 50, 75 or whatever) or is it just 100 yds?

Last I checked, it still was, and centerfire rifle is 100yds only.

    There's shorter stuff for rimfires.

I seem to remember their number is 650/573-2557.

    Hours are M/W/F 7 to 10pm.

If you're bringing an AW, bring your reg papers (it's county property operated by sheriff's dept).

Been thinking of heading there to check it out, but I guess they aren't too OLL friendly. Anyone shot an OLL w .22 upper (or .22 in evil configuration) there?

I've shot my FAL there. . . but it's mostly guys with bolt guns. Been a few times, saw a few SKS's, another FAL, no OLLs. Bench shooting only. No rapid fire. 100yds only for high-power rifles. No centerfire pistols. I think you can shoot T/Th if you buy a membership.

As long as it's cali-legal you'll be ok there (10rd fixed mag or gripless). But it ain't much fun sittin down and shootin thru the little portholes. And they usually close up by 9:30. If it wasn't 10 minutes from my house I'd never go there.

When I have a spare moment I plan on clarifying OLL's with the Sheriff there. I'll post when I do.

Normally there are no Sheriffs there. The range is run by volunteers as per Sheriff's rules (i.e., bring paperwork with your reg'd AWs).

Anyone here know if rifle ammunition is subject to the 'magnet test' at the Coyote Point facility?

              Thanks in advance.

Nope they don't check your ammo.
