Good price for a fun little gun. If I didn't already own one, I'd buy one for that price.

Not me. That’s about twice as much as what I’d be willing to pay for a KelTec.

That's a really good price. I payed $399 years ago for the A model. Fun gun, but that hand guard gets a little toasty after many rounds through it.

The Keltec SU16 for me is the rifle that put the "tactical" back here in CA a decade ago.

Went to Look at and handle the SU-16 last weekend. Felt cheap and flimsy. They had the RDB-C in stock, which felt way more solid and handled really nice (20" barrel in a 30.4" package). Ended up with one of those Instead.

                Oh C’mon you haters . . .

If I Had to choice a primary “go to war” rifle it’ll be my AR’s/Bolt guns over an SU-16 for sure. Will it handle 8 or 9 mag dumps and still hold MOA at 100 yrds? It’ll certainly function and that that barrel will heat up like a branding iron. And your groups will certainly open up. Which would also happen to any pencil-barreled AR.
It’s probably not as durable as an AR past 10k rounds. But then again who shoots that much? (Unless you’re a 3-gunner).
The SU-16 is a budget rifle meant for occasional use (truck gun). In a WROL situation, it can be employed as a 2nd tier rifle to back the primary gun.
Try and shoot one to judge. You’ll love that crazy rubber-band 2-stage pull.

I really like mine. I cleaned up all the mold lines and got the trigger pull down to ~4.5 lbs. It's a good shooter and more accurate than my pencil barrel AR.

Folds in half to 25" and weighs under 5 lbs including it's case.

When you're traveling or when it's inconvenient to have your "real" guns near by, this is a great gun to have with you.

I wish I would have known, I would have bought one for that price.

I bought one. It's my 3rd SU-16CA. Wish I hadn't sold the other two. Got the PC Carbine and P238 that was on sale too (not the HD P238 - if I'm going to own a pocket gun I figured go for the lighter one.)
I really like the SU-16CA rifles, warts and all. The last one I had suffered from a magazine sticking issue with factory mags. I sent it back to Keltec and they fixed it. Great customer service. Don't know what they did, assuming they filed something down. The mags dropped and inserted easily afterward. I didn't have a problem with Magpul mags, although they didn't seem to fit well in the buttstock. The SU-16CA is fun to shoot, reasonably accurate and doesn't scare AR scaredycats when they see it. It's a welcome .223/5.56 addition to my PC Carbine 9mm and 10/22 backpacker. I wish Ruger would make something like the backpacker or PC Carbine in .223/5.56, and I don't mean the heavy, cumbersome Mini-14 Ranch Rifle. I'd especially like to see a lightweight, high quality, accurate backpacker .223/5.56 with mags in the buttstock - I'd pay a ton for it.

One of the most popular markets in the world of firearms is the 5.56-millimeter semi-automatic rifle. The most common of these are long guns built around the AR-15 common platform, but alternatives to this do exist. One such alternative is the Kel-Tec SU-16, which incorporates features that make it an attractive alternative to those needing […]

This site got the wrong picture... Had one when I couldn't afford ARs, sold it years ago and bought an M&P15 Sport 2. It was an easy gun to own, store and carry. In other states you can even change it out with the pistol grip and folding stock.

+1 The fascination with crappy firearms around here is puzzling.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.
