legality of attaching a brake or comp to a barrel

Hey guys I have a quick hypothetical, what's the legality of attaching a comp or brake to the barrel of a pistol that DOESN'T have threads (if there was a way to do it). I want to shoot 45 Super from a glock 21 but don't want to permanently attach a comp, seeing if there is another route and I've heard there might be a threadless option.

Pretty sure you can 3d print it with metal... No sure how durable it will be.

The comp I was hoping to get is a clamp on style. Just want to make sure it would be legal as long as the barrel is not threaded, I didn't want it to be permenantely attached.

The tb is the issue, not the attachment itself (excluding suppressors, obviously). There are lots of people that run bushing brakes on 1911s, for example. You could also have an extended barrel ported if you dont find an attachment method that suits your fancy.

Does anyone know the PC for threaded pistol barrels? I know it won't say you could attach a comp to a non threaded barrel but would still be nice to read.

It's PC Section 30515(a)(4)(A). A threaded barrel on a semi-auto pistol without a fixed magazine produces an Assault Weapon.

You're fine having a threaded barrel on a revolver.

Thanks, seems like a clamp on comps are a pretty common thing for 1911s in Ca, I wasn't aware it was even a thing, surprised it's not forbidden.

Also note that if the barrel has "lugs" which can be utilized for attaching a "silencer", then it is considered a "threaded barrel". [11 CCR 5471(rr)]
