I bought ammo at Walmart today...

So, I walked into Walmart today, intending to observe their first day of ammo sales under the new California Law. I went to the ammo section and saw every sales associate who sells ammo (I literally know them all), waiting and discussing selling ammo. They asked if I needed any help, so I volunteered to be the first purchaser, in Cerritos.
I selected 3 boxes of 9mm and 2 packs of mini mags. They took my ID and started the DROS process. They had to identify the maker, the weight, and round count of EACH $#^% box of ammo. There were copies involved! At the end, I really felt like I was purchasing a gun. The process took around 20 mins. I told them that I'll come back when they streamline the process. If it weren't for the dubious distinction of being the first to make a purchase, I might not have done it at all. BTW, they told me that I could buy any type of ammo that I wanted, even if I didn't have a gun to match it....odd!

What's "odd" is they told me I was the first to make a purchase. They took my picture for the wall and everything.

I’m not surprised they got it wrong.

I mean it is Walmart. Somebody needs to call them on that.

I would have. I was in the same boat as you guys, got my CDL a couple weeks before real IDs were available.

I wasn’t in a hurry to get a real ID because I have a passport that doesn’t expire till 2023.

But then one day at work, my boss unexpectedly sent me straight to the Pasadena DMV without an appointment to fix my restrictions on the back of my ID.

DMV had put intrastate instead of interstate on the back of my ID, and Universal was going to lay me off almost immediately if I didn’t fix it.

Never mind the fact that I wasn’t leaving the state on the job anyway...

So since I didn’t plan on going to the DMV, of course I didn’t have any extra paperwork for them so now I have a federal limits apply ID.

So until I get to DMV, I’ve been carrying my passport around with me, because you never know when you want to buy ammo!

                    This freaking state.

Nope. You just need to point it out to them, in their binder that they got this one wrong.

Drivers License without the Federal Limits Apply. "Real ID." Your address must match what is in the AFS.

If not then you need to bring in your passport or birth certificate.

What a loathsome sad state of affairs California has become. I truly feel sorry for you guys.
