Leaving Crescent City with Yreka as a destination requires part of the trip to be outside California. Would a CCW holder in both California and Oregon be in violation of the new laws regarding transportation of ammo into California with a loaded handgun as well as a full spare magazine?

You are prohibited from buying ammo outside of the state and bringing it back. You wouldn’t have a problem with the ammo that you loaded into your gun and spare magazine in California. However, you would have a problem if you are carrying “large capacity magazines.” If you take those out of state, you would technically be “importing” them back into the state when you returned with them.Anchors Aweigh

But some have not yet internalized that CA laws always have a 'worst-case' interpretation, and we should always guard against enforcement of that interpretation.
It's hard to get over the 'they can't really mean that, can they?' until you've been around for a bit.
The OP's question is a bit in the other direction regarding ammunition, fearing worse interpretations than are yet warranted.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Hell, I didn’t think of that
So, when I use my Cali-legally-obtained 12 rd. mags in my CCW driving out on family visits to Vegas....I have to switch to a 10-rd mag coming back into Cali?? When it was legally obtained? Then after an hour or so of driving in Cali, with no CHP behind me...or when I get into my house 4 hours later....I can switch back??!!
WTF?

Possession or lack thereof of a California CCW is not an exemption from any of the new regulations on ammunition.
The rules are the same either way.
