Here is an USA Today article on the ammo background checks...
A win for public safety or a government ploy? California set to require background check for ammo sales
The reason I posted the Yahoo version is due to the comment section. There are a lot of comments being dropped which either demonstrate ignorance of the laws in California, demonstrate a decided absence of knowledge regarding who controls California politically (and the constituencies), or show a decided lack of sympathy...

"If this isn't an infringement of the 2nd Amendment, I don't know what is. The gun owners of California need to write letters and make phone calls to their elected officials to repeal this law. They also need to challenge this law to the Supreme Court and get it overturned." (Yeah. Calling/writing California legislators always works and it's not like we have to get through the 9th Circuit, then get SCOTUS to grant cert or anything.)
"it's not infringing on your right to own a gun. lmao. the second amendment says nothing about ammo. only guns. the price of an gun or its ammo is not an infringement"
"The folks in Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona wish to thank the politicians in California for the opportunity of selling ammo to your residents and increasing our sales tax revenue."
"Only two kind of people will want to buy ammunition: law abiding citizens and criminals, what are the chances?, as for me, go ahead and prevent the lose of innocent lives."
"So I guess that means that all of the buyers flocking to buy their bullets before July 1 would FAIL the background check? That's pretty chilling..."
"Big win for public safety. Everything around ammo and guns should be evaluated. Tighter controls including stronger background checks, screening for mental illness for those flagged are paramount. So many countries including the AU and NZ rarely have the massacres we do."

Of course, there are just as many, maybe more, comments sympathetic to our plight. However, a good number of those are being thumbed down.
Kinda makes you wonder if this isn't a demonstration of Liberals swarming the Internet to 'demonstrate' that the "American People" are actually in favor of this type of thing.
