So what AK model are most people buying and having spreadfire take off the grip? I've finally decided to go ahead and get one.

If you have a FFL willing to accept AK-style rifles, there's a company you can deal with directly and not have to ship to a middle-man to take off the pistol grip.
As for AK-style rifles, I'd say the best bets are:
1) Arsenal milled AKs (SA-M7 for example)
2) Armory USA (SSR 85 C2)
3) Vector Arms -
For 7.62x39 I chose a DCI built AKM. In 7.62x54R I bought a Romanian PSL. And for 308, I chose Vepr. If you really want a great deal in AK's, check out the Romanians in any caliber. They're a bargain.sigpic

I got the Vector Arms AK with the reddish wood from Atlantic Arms. I took it out a month or so ago in Nevada and had a great time.
The only problem I had was finding a pistol grip screw for when I took the gun to Nevada. I wanted to put the grip back on outside of California and then take it back off. Took me a while to find the part but I did and it worked great.Comment

Best bet on that front, is to keep your grip, plus the screw and that little pyramid thing that the screw goes into, in the same plastic baggie.Originally posted by saberI got the Vector Arms AK with the reddish wood from Atlantic Arms. Will Spreadfire mail you your grip and screw separately?Originally posted by grammaton76Best bet on that front, is to keep your grip, plus the screw and that little pyramid thing that the screw goes into, in the same plastic baggie.http://www.norcalmedtac.com

At the very least, I would recommend having him send you screw and little pyramid thingie, as Grammaton called it. It was a PITA trying to find that online at a place that would send to CA. The guy at Spreadfire Arms was great to work with so it wouldn't hurt to ask to send you the grip, screw, and other parts removed.Comment

You'd have to ask them; I've never used them so I don't know for sure.Originally posted by furryrabbitWill Spreadfire mail you your grip and screw separately?Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment
