No, not unless the gun shop doesn't understand what's going on. I just bought today and all that was required was my driver's license and a recent copy of a utility bill with my name and address on it.
As someone mentioned, if the license says "Federal Limits Apply", that's a different story. My license is a regular license that doesn't expire for another two years so I've got plenty of time to get one of those crappy real ID's. My wife's license expired about a year or so ago but we haven't bothered to get a new ID as she doesn't drive anymore and Alzheimers is taking it's toll. Maybe in a few months when the DMV gets it's act together we'll get her a new ID. Eventually you have too. It's easier if you make an appt in the morning. Get it over with and go have a nice lunch. When you make an appt online. It may be three months.Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

at local gs today listening to some of the shooters complaining about not knowing anything about the ammo law......lot of fud being spread about,, I couldn't believe the one guy who stated he has been shooting since Moses was a pup and shoots every caliber out there and stated this past week was the first time he heard about the new regulation......a few folks said they're going to learn to reload....this is going to be a interesting next few weeksComment

From another thread it appears that the DOJ has been slacking in providing guidance to vendors on the ammo side of this. And certainly if you take all the threads on this board seriously lots of people are confused. I can imagine buying on Monday ... a lot of confused, angry, frustrated people (not a place where you want to be).Comment

Illegal alien drivers license and a passport is GTG. One proves residence, the other proves citizenship. No need to jump through Gavin's loopholes.
BTW, My registered name with the CAL DMV is "Newsomesucks". The password is even more offensive.
